Choosing a school for your little one comes with plenty of questions. Here are the ones parents ask us most often about Tiny Tots Ferndale — from the ages we take and our daily hours, to fees, meals and how to enrol. If your question is not answered here, please just ask us.

What ages do you accept?

We care for children from 3 months old through to Grade R, at around 6 years. Little ones move up through six age-based classes as they grow, from our 100 Acre Woods baby room to the Astro Grade R class. You can see all six classes on our home page.

What are your operating hours and do you offer full-day care?

We are open Monday to Friday, 06:30 to 18:00. That full day suits working parents — you can drop off from 06:30 and collect any time up until 18:00, with your child in a warm, caring environment in between. Get in touch to chat about your family’s routine.

How much are your school fees?

Our fees are available on request. Phone or WhatsApp us on 083 342 3540, or email info@tinytots.org.za, and we will gladly share our current fees with you. Many parents ask about fees while arranging a visit to the school, so they can see where their child would spend the day.

How do I enrol my child or book a tour?

Simply WhatsApp or call us on 083 342 3540 and we will arrange a personal tour. Walking through the school is the best way to meet our team and get a feel for daily life here. All our details are on the contact page.

Where is Tiny Tots Ferndale and which areas do you serve?

We are at 460 Long Avenue, Ferndale, Randburg, 2194. Families travel to us from Ferndale itself and the surrounding Randburg suburbs, including Windsor, Blairgowrie and the Cresta area. There is a map and directions on our contact page.

Do you provide meals?

Our youngest children, in the 100 Acre Woods baby class, receive full daily meals — breakfast, freshly cooked vegetables with meat, fish or chicken, and then custard, jelly or fruit. For meal arrangements in the older classes, please ask us directly and we will explain how it works.

What curriculum and learning approach do you follow?

We follow the Department of Education curriculum with a creative, play-based approach, so children learn by doing. Weekly themes cover gross motor skills, brain gym, language, maths, science, arts and crafts, perception and music, alongside a weekly music lesson and much-loved Fun Fridays. Read more about our curriculum.

Do you offer Grade R and prepare children for school?

Yes. Our Astro Class is a Grade R year with more formal learning that prepares children for primary school and supports their all-round development. Before that, the Smurf and Toy Story classes build school-readiness skills such as early literacy and numeracy. More detail is on our about page.

Do you take babies from 3 months?

Yes. Our 100 Acre Woods class cares for babies from 3 to 18 months. They have a sunny, airy indoor play area and a shady outside garden, plus full daily meals. It is dedicated baby care for parents returning to work. Chat to us about availability.

Is Tiny Tots a Christian school and what values do you teach?

Yes. We offer a loving Christian environment where character, good manners and strong values matter as much as early learning. Our motto says it best: “Taking Hands, Opening Minds and Touching Hearts.” You can read more about what we believe.

Are your teachers qualified?

Our owner, Ronell Schlebusch, holds an M.Ed., B.Ed., B.A. and H.E.D. Our principal, Karina van der Colf, has managed the school since 2007 and holds a B.Ed. from UNISA along with ECD qualifications. They lead a settled team of teachers and assistants — meet them here.

Do you run a school holiday programme?

Yes. We run holiday programmes during the breaks, and our 2026 calendar shows them in January and July. They are a practical option for working parents when schools close. Dates are on the yearly planner, and we confirm details closer to the time.

How long has Tiny Tots Ferndale been running?

The school was established in 1995, so we have been caring for Ferndale and Randburg children for more than thirty years. Over that time we have welcomed generations of local families. You can read our story on the about page.

Still have a question?
